Christmas is a very special time of year for the Sailors’ Society in Durban. It is the culmination of huge, countrywide co-ordination and generosity when we get together to pack the gifts for the mariners in the Port of Durban on Christmas day and prepare to distribute them.
Through out the year open-hearted people have been knitting beanies and gloves and others have been collecting donations to this big day when we hand out around 3000 gifts.
Here are some pictures of the big packing day down at the Mission
You can see more wrapping and packing pictures here.
The gifts will be distributed as follows
23 December – Gifts to be distributed in the port
24 December – Gifts will be distributed to ships at outer anchorage.
On 25 December there is a Christmas service at the Mission at 7pm.
