It’s never too early to plan ahead but can you believe we see Christmas on the horizon?

Yes, and as we get into the second half of the year we would like to encourage as many of our loyal members as possible to knit fingerless mittens and/or donate toward the purchase of coffee mugs to put into the parcels. Approximately 1200 parcels are packed every year to be handed out to seafarers who find themselves in our port over the Christmas season—far from home and family, we like to help make their Christmas a joyful one.

We have already filled 3 large suitcases with the mittens— some 300 pairs—and we also have a number of beanies and scarves, all of which are so appreciated by the seafarers. Thank you TO all who have contributed thusfar—please keep them coming.

The other items we need are-
Toiletry items [soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, face cloths etc]

Please contact Linda van Schalkwyk  on 031 266 0695 Monday—Thursday during office hours or on for more details, and thank you in advance for your generosity and kindness.

[If you require knitting patterns for mittens or beanies, please also contact Linda.]
