Annual Chaplains Conference – London

London was this year’s venue for the annual Chaplains’ Conference. It was a good choice of city as it coincided with the Sailors’ Society 200th anniversary celebrations. Chaplains from many countries attended and they enjoyed meeting their counterparts and to compare operating in various countries. E.g. conditions in Madagascar certainly differ vastly from Singapore. Sailors’ Society 200 Year Celebrations at the Durban Maritime Museum

  Always game for a celebration, the group of volunteers at the Maritime Museum in Durban called “Friends of the Maritime Museum” joined in the 200 Years Celebration of the Sailors’ Society. For several years this dedicated group has done wonders in renovating the vessels, the minesweeper the SAS DURBAN, the steam driven tug the JR MORE and the pilot boat ULUNDI, three of the exhibits. Sailors’ Society 200 Years Celebrations – Churches in Durban

The Sailors’ Society 200 Year Celebrations also took place at some churches. One of Sailors’ Society chaplains, Jessie John presented a very interesting and well received talk at the Lambert Road Baptist Church in Durban. She also organised a “200” cake which all enjoyed, especially the kiddies. Jessie also visited seafarers on board vessels in the Port of Durban.
