The East London branch of the Sailors’ Society recently had the privilege of sharing God’s love in a practical way, with the crew of the Al Messilah.

A member, Sharnae Hopewell shares this lovely outreach story with us and how she and two colleagues packed the care packages over a weekend.

The vessel had been in the Port of East London for some time.  Owing to Covid-19 protocols, no visitors were allowed aboard, neither were  seafarers permitted to come ashore.

Gordon Campbell from the East London branch liaised with the shipping agent to see how the Sailors’ Society could be of assistance.

When it was confirmed that we could deliver care packages to the crew of 56, the care packages were prepared over the weekend  so that  local committee members Roy Hopewell and Gordon Campbell could deliver the the boxes of goodies which included some treats, stationery and toiletries .

We pray that the crew enjoyed the treats, and that they were reminded that although they are currently somewhat isolated, they are not forgotten!”
